Shadows of Nature

The aesthetic of traditional Korean painting combined with the unique  colors from natural dyes on natural fibers are the inspiration for the artist’s  or designer’s apparel line “Shadows of Nature” and the related textiles  design collection. Both influences express harmony with nature as a core  belief. Focusing on apparel designs that are both beautiful and good for  the wearer was the inspiration for bringing together the beauty of natural  dyed textiles into designs that reflect contemporary beauty and aesthetic.

A country’s traditional painting is the most accessible clue one has to that  nation’s culture. These days, many people are interested in orientalism  as a way to update Korean’s traditional beauty values. Thus, the project  aims to develop an apparel design collection through combining the  aesthetic of traditional painting with the beauty of naturally dyed textiles.
